Soccer Recap of Week One

Still Looking For A Win (Friday)
The guys are still looking for their first win of the season after a second disappointing outing. The team started the game by stringing together several attacks but just could not find the net with a final shot. After initially looking like our attack was going somewhere it became stagnant putting more pressure on the defense. Our transition game was slow allowing SW Onslow to get numbers up in the attack. About halfway through the first half they were able to finish one of their attacks to take a 1 nil lead at halftime. The second half proved to be a little more creative in the attack. We hit the post on one occasion but still could not get the ball past the keeper. Unfortunately an Onslow attacker broke through on a one on one with keeper Ryan Keller who took him down thus having a penalty kick adwarded. SW Onslow made the PK and the final result was SW Onslow 2 Ashley 0

Improvement But Still Winless (Saturday)
Ashley never trailed in the game but the Eagles could not put them away either. The NCSSM was down a man after a red card was issued for a take down from behind on a clear break away to goal.Parker Rackley put the Eagles ahead when he scored in the second minute of the match. NCSSM answer on a goal from Jarod Glover in the 8th minute. Josh Barnello was able to make the penalty kick awarded when he was taken down in the box. The score at halftime was AHS 2 NCSSM 1. It was basically back and forth through the second half but in the 55th minutes NCSSM put in the equalizer when the Eagle defense allowed Byron Spell to dribble through and push it by keeper TJ White. Neither team really created much offense after that point. The final talley AHS 2 NCSMS 2.
