Eagles Rally to Defeat Anthony Wayne in Lacrosse

On Wednesday evening the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team dropped a close contest to Laney 9 - 8. Unfortunately, Ashley did not bring its "A" game and had continual problems with fundamentals like ground balls and protecting the ball on offense. Nonetheless, the Eagles led 2-0 after one quarter. The Bucs came back in the 2nd quarter tying the game at 4 with less than one second left in the half. The Laney surge continued in the 3rd quarter as Ashley was outscored 4-0. The Eagles mounted a comeback effort in the final stages of the game, but fell one goal short.

Colton Blackman and Owen Finnegan each had 2 goals along with 1 assist. Mike Colella and Carson Conklin contributed 2 goals apiece while Fletcher Steveson assisted on 2 goals. Zac Tilley made 25 saves in cage.
On Thursday evening the team faced off against Anthony Wayne HS from Ohio. In the first quarter the team's effort mirrored the problems from the night before, and the Eagles found themselves trailing 3-1 at the end of the quarter. Fortunately they were able to play their way out of their "funk" and led 5-3 at the half. While the Generals were able to play the Eagles even in the third quarter, Ashley broke the game open in the 4th and prevailed 13-7.
Owen Finnegan (3G;2A) and Mike Colella (4G;1A) led all scorers while both Colton Blackman and Greg Mayer tossed in 2 goals each. Fletcher Steveson pitched in with 3 assists, while Carson Conklin added a goal and an assist. Chris Hofmann scored his first goal of the season.
