Eagles Swarmed by Wildcats 63-18


By now, it's hard for Kevin Motsinger to keep track of all the injuries across the New Hanover High School football roster. The coach thinks the number of sidelined Wildcats reached 20 by the end of Friday night's 63-18 win over Ashley, but he might be missing somebody.

While Motsinger has had to dig deep to plug all the holes, players like sophomore Keegan Santos have helped make a frustrating season easier.

Santos earned a promotion to varsity linebacker early in the season after injuries there. This week, he moved across the line of scrimmage and shined in his first varsity action on offense.

The running back piled up 114 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries, all in the first half of a much-needed Mideastern Conference victory over the Screaming Eagles at Legion Stadium.
