Eagles boys win 5-school meet while girls take 3rd, Boys improve to 19th in the State
The Screaming Eagles Cross Country teams competed in a 5-school meet hosted by Laney against: Laney, New Hanover, South Brunswick and Cape Fear Academy this past Thursdayat Olsen Park.
The Eagles were down a few of their top runners and with a couple others saving up for the weekend invitational it made for a close meet between The Eagles and Laney. A group went out at a fast pace, but at the mile mark all of them pulled up while Laneys Calvin Daughter continued to muscle through the course winning with a time of 17:02. Behind him was a group of Eagles, lead by sophomore Cody Benton who was only 3 seconds of a personal record with a 17:52, Stephen Wilson was 3rd at 17:57, and Daniel Lancaster was 4th at 17:57. This helped the Eagles win with 29 points, followed by Laney with 38, New Hanover 82, South Brunswick 98, and Cape Fear Academy 128. The rest of the top 10 were: 5th Thomas Eichorn SB 18:07, 6th Charlie Rachunok L 18:12, 7th Eric Paulson 18:18, 8th Vaughn Rizzo Ashley18:37, 9th Sean Mulherin NH 18:41, and 10th was Henry Kunz NH 18:42. The Eagles will be competing in a 3-School Meet against South Brunswick and Laney on Thursday at South Brunswick High School.
